Health and longevity areuniversal pursuits, and improving the quality of life and health is a major national priority. The development and processing of novel materials that align with the requirements of medical processes and characteristics are crucial areas of scientific advancement. Biomedical polymer materials are a vital branch of biomaterials, designed to interact with living systems to direct the course of any therapeutic or diagnostic procedure.
The field of Biomedical Polymer Materials was established in the late 1970s by Professor Yilun Yue and other pioneering scientists. Rooted in the nationally recognized disciplines of Biomedical Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering, it became one of the earliest biomedical engineering programs in China. Over nearly half a century, the department has developed several significant and cutting-edge research areas and established multiple translational bases for medical polymer materials.
