More than 300 million tons of polymer materials need to be processed into products worldwide each year, and the annual output value of the polymer processing industry accounts for more than 3% of the total in China. The resultant performance of polymer materials is not only related to their chemical structure, but also highly dependent on the aggregated structures in the melts under the complex force field and temperature field during processing. The mission of this research direction is to discover the fundamental science of chemistry and physics in the discipline of polymer science and engineering under five major research areas:
