Biography

Professor Jie Zhang obtained his Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering in Chengdu University of Science and Technology in 1987. Then, he worked at Hangzhou Camera Research Institute for four years as an assistant engineer. He obtained his Master degree in Polymer Material Processing in 1994, and PhD in Material Processing Engineering in 2003 from Sichuan University, respectively. Since 1994, he became a lecturer and an associate professor since 2001 at the College of Polymer Science and Engineering, Sichuan University. From 2004 to 2005, he did his research work at Loughborough University (UK) as a visiting scholar. Since 2007, he has been a professor at Sichuan University.

Professor Jie Zhang has published over 120 peer-reviewed full length research articles as the first author or the corresponding author in journals such as Macromolecules; Carbon; Additive Manufacturing; Composites Part B, Polymer, ACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering, Virtual and Physical Prototying. He was the leading author of 2 published books, and has been granted 12 patents.


Research Interests

The research of Professor Jie Zhang focuses on the study of advanced polymer processing methods and technologies, including developing new methods and new devices of polymer material process, 3D printing technology based on polymer matrix, controlling polymer morphology during process, mold CAD/CAE, etc.
