Eighth International Symposium on Frontiers in Polymer Science Concludes in Chengdu

The Eighth International Symposium on Frontiers in Polymer Science waswas heldfrom June 11 to 14 at the Tianfu International Conference Center in Chengdu, China.Co-organized by Elsevier and Sichuan University, the symposium marked the first time theconferenceserieswas heldin China since itslaunchin 2009.

The eventbrought togethernearly 400 delegates from 20 countries and regions, includingaround100 overseas participants.Among the attendees were multiple academicians from the United States,China,and other developed countries, the Vice President of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC),and recipients of the Wolf Prize and the Franklin Medal.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Yiwen Li, Co-Chair of the conference,from the College of Polymer Science and Engineering, Sichuan University. Keynote addresses weregivenby Dr. Peter Harrison, Senior Vice President of Elsevier;Professor Benny Freeman, Member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering and Editor-in-Chief of Polymer (conference Co-Chair);and Professor Yuzhong Wang, Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Director of theStateKey Laboratory of Advanced Polymer Materials.

The Symposium featured 9 plenary lectures and 3 parallel sessions, which comprised 18 keynote presentations, 84 oral talks, and 257 poster displays,providinga comprehensive platform for academic exchanges. During the symposium, theProgress in Polymer Science Career Award, the Progress in Polymer Science Scholar Award, and the Best Poster Awards were conferred to recognize outstanding contributions and innovations in the field.
