PSE Held the Sub-Forum of the Third International Forum for Young Scholars at SCU

On the morning of May 16th, the sub-forum of the Third International Young Scholars Forum at SCU was held in PSE, focusing on polymer science and engineering. Seven outstanding young scholars from the world’s famous universities and research institutes, such as Leeds University, the University of Maryland, the University of Tokyo and Valld’Hebron Research Institute attended the sub- forum by invitation. Fu Qiang, dean of PSE; Mu Defu, Party secretary of CCP PSE committee; Ran Rong and Li Yanmei, vice dean of PSE; Qian Zhiqi, associate secretary of CCP PSE committee and other teachers also joined the event. Professor Fu Qiang presided over the sub-forum.

On behalf of PSE students, faculties, and staff, Fu Qiang delivered a warm welcome speech to the young scholars and gave a brief introduction to PSE’s history, faculty, disciplinary set-up, talent cultivation and scientific research. He emphasized that PSE specialized in the resources of excellent students and research platform, encouraging young scholars to join PSE on this occasion or in the future to support the college in its efforts toward internationalization and Dual World-Class Construction.

These young scholars presented their work experience, research and achievements with a lively discussion, such as on the application of fluorescence correlation spectroscopy (FCS) and nanomaterials in the field of environment, energy, biomedicine and human life. Prof. Li Yiwen shared his work and life experience at Sichuan University on behalf of young teachers of PSE. Prof. Mu Defu made a concluding remark. In the afternoon, these young scholars were invited by different research groups for further communications.

This event promoted the understanding and cooperation of young talented scholars in polymer field, showed the recent development of PSE and constructed a platform to attract young scholars globally, which would accelerate the process of building the Forth Polymer Center in the world.

It is reported that the International Forum for Young Scholars at SCU is an important platform for promoting the university’s world class construction and talent cultivation. It brings together excellent young scholars from leading institutions around the world, with years’ participants having been selected through a rigorous screening process.
